Summary: Valli is sick of spending her days picking up coal, but it is the only thing there in Jharia. Valli's family won't allow her to go to school and there's never enough food. So when Valli finds out her "aunt" is actually a stranger paid to look after her, she stows away on a coal truck and sets out on a new life. Valli is brave and resourceful and survives life on the streets of Kolkata but why does she have magic feet that feel no pain? A chance encounter with a doctor gives her some answers but Valli must decide whether she trusts the doctor enough to accept help
